Training Options in Wicklow Sailing Club

Wicklow Sailing Club was established in 1950 for the purpose of fostering yachting in the area. Since then many changes have taken place and our Club has grown to almost 400 members with interests in several different areas of water borne activity, though still mostly sailing related. Through our current Trustee, John Headley, a Junior Training programme was set up in the early 70's and is bursting at the seams nowadays with regularly up to 60 young members partaking.

Our current ISA Centre Principal is Frank Jackson and he is responsible for ensuring that all our Training Programmes are run in accordance with the Irish Sailing Associations requirements on our behalf. In addition to the very successful Junior Training, we have recently developed Powerboat courses and a new addition in 2009 was our Adult Sail Training course. Also, through external providers, we can arrange courses in Navigation, SRC/VHF and First Aid.

Wicklow Sailing Club is celebrating 60 years as a club and 30 years of its Round Ireland in 2010.
